Funeral service for Mrs H Guy THE funeral was held at Great Amwell Parish Church on Tuesday for Mrs H M Guy who died at her home 261 Stanstead Road Hoddesdon on Wednesday of last week aged 87. Although she had been ill for many years she had led a very active life. In the first world war she was nursing and one of her duties was to meet the troop trains bringing the wounded back from the front In the second world war she was a Red Cross nurse working at a Bishop’s Stortford hospital and at a military hospital at Stansted where she lived at the time She was also president of Stansted WI Her husband Mr Arthur Guy who died 10 years ago was a stationmaster and was moved from Stansted to Cheshunt KEEN LIBERAL While at Cheshunt Mrs Guy was a member of the Nursery Schools committee an active member of the Inner Wheel at Cheshunt and Waltham Cross of which she was president and she took a keen interest in the local Liberals for whom she was chairman She spent the last 20 years in Hoddesdon where she was vice-president of Hoddesdon Liberal Association and vice-chairman of East Herts Constituency Liberal Party travelling all over the area to attend meetings Mrs Guy was secretary of Stanstead Abbotts Women’s Institute for a time and continued to take part in the activities of the Inner Wheel until ill-health prevented her from doing so She is survived by two daughters and six grandchildren
