Dear Harry and Lena No doubt you will be surprised to receive a letter from me, but this one is to tell you the sad news that Regs father passed away last Friday morning 26th in a Hastings nursing home, following a heart attack on the previous Tuesday afternoon. Reg and I were sent for to go to Hastings last Friday morning, we found him unconscious, had been in a coma for several hours, we were only with him in the room for 1/4 of an hour before he died at 12:10. It's very sad as Dorothy is still in hospital and is undergoing a fourth operation next Wednesday afternoon, as the last one was not a success and the operation is on the same day as dad is being cremated. The service is on Wednesday at 1:30 at All Saints Church, Maidstone. He is being brought up from Hastings to Pickards in Stone St, but we don't know whether the actual mourners will follow from Hazels, she rather wants it from her house, I think, but at any rate as far as we know at present the service is about 1:30, so if you have time to attend it you will know. We had a sad time on Friday, First going to the nursing home then later on to see Dorothy in hospital, they were very good in letting visitors see her as it was not an open day, but under the tragic circumstances they allowed it, the ward sister broke the news to her. Poor Dorothy has been there 4 months now and is really looking so ill and thin, I hope she keeps trying to live now but this news has set her back, of course. Well Harry, I have lots to write so please excuse more Lots of love from us both Elsie xxxx PS Reg is not feeling at all well today. I think he is suffering from delayed shock, hope he is quite better by Wednesday. Hope you are both well
