Actual Text:
Dear Mr Jenner, Thank you for your enquiry about Richard Phillips. He was a cathedral employee from at least 1871 to 1905 and his duties involved the upkeep of the cathedral close and also the cathedral bells. there are a few references to him in our archives which I have attached. We also have a plan of where his house was located on the close.I can send a copy of this to you if you provide me with an address. The above information was extracted from our archive lists. It would be possible to do a search of the cathedral minutes to look for Phillips appointmnet.Their may also be some entries for his family in the cahtedral registers of baptisms, marriages and burials. If you wish to know any more please do not hesitate to contact me, Yours sincerely, Rosalind Caird Mrs Rosalind Caird Cathedral Archivist Hereford Cathedral Library and Archives The Cathedral Hereford HR1 2NG Tel 01432 374225 Fax 01432 374220 Library and Archive opening hours are: Monday 10.00 -13.00, Tuesday 10.00-16.00, Wednesday 10.00-16.00, Thursday 10.00-19.00, Friday 10.00-13.00, Ist Saturday of the month 10.00-13.00
