It is reported that Constable A. L. Moate. aged 22, formerly of the Cornwall County Constabulary, has died of gunshot wounds In Salisbury. Rhodesia. He joined the police in March 1948. and was stationed at Liskeard for some time. Then he joined the Rhodesian Police. His father works at Antony. Con. Moate was buried in Rhodesia with military honours.

Can't help a great deal but am copying this to our Historian, Cliff Rogers who may or may not be able to help further.
My records confirm that 4351 Cst Anthony Leon Moate died of a gunshot wound on 8 April 1949. At that time he would only have been in his fifth month in the BSAP (British South Africa Police - which was the name at that time) so was probably still in training.
