  Text	PADDOCK WOOD YEOMAN WOUNDED Full particulars have been received of the serious injury sustained by Private S. Dann, of the 1st West Kent Yeomanry, whilst engaged in military service in Gallipoli. He is the second son of Mr. Sam Dann, of Mascalls Pound, who has a wide business connection in Paddock Wood and the neighbourhood. Private Dann joined the 2nd West Kent Yeomanry on September 22nd, 1914, and having volunteered for the Front was transferred to the 1st regiment, with which he proceeded to Gallipoli in September last. Practice at home had made him an, excellent shot, and his prowess as an accurate marksman was speedily recognised, and he was assigned the dangerous duties of sniper. On one occasion was relieved by a mate, who within thirty minutes fell a victim lo a bullet. On the 11th of last month lie had just been relieved 14 days in the trenches, and was engaged at fatigue work, when a shell burst behind him, the nose cap (weighing about 3lbs) striking his right arm, shattering it below the elbow. At the dressing station the damaged limb was amputated, and as soon as possible Pte. Dann was sent to Alexandria, from whence he wrote a letter home with his left hand. On .the 29th he embarked on the hospital ship Langpape, and after ten days landed at Southampton from whence he was sent to Queen Mary's Military Hospital at Whally, Lancashire. Pte. Dann is 24 years
