HOLDER. -By the death Mr. Henry Holder on Monday morning Mayfield loses another of its oldest tradesmen. Mr. Holder has been ailing for some months, and after several rallies took a change for the worse on Saturday, and died on Monday morning at the age 67. He had carried on the business of grocer and draper at High Street for over 40 years, and took a keen interest in anything connected with the village. He was liberal supporter of charitable objects. He was greatly esteemed by his employees, several whom had been with him all their lives. He was one of the Managers the Schools, having been appointed by the Parish Council, he was also a trustee of the Dr. John Hall Memorial Fund. At the Baptist Chapel, of which was a prominent member, he will be greatly missed, especially at the Sunday School. The funeral took place on Thursday afternoon, the first part of the service being at the Baptist Chapel, conducted by Mr. Popham. The deceased was carried to the grave by four of his employees (Messrs. Kemp. Miles. Haizelden and Leonard). Many friends assembled at the Chapel. As the cortege proceeded to the churchyard the children the Sunday School marched in front. At the churchyard between two and three hundred people assembled to pay a last tribute. All the Baptist Chapels the neighbouring villages were represented. Among those noticed at the graveside were:—Mr. W. Brown. Mr. H. Grinham. Mr. C. E. Napper, Mr W. Drury, Mr, E. Paine, Mr. Fred Wicker, Mr. W. S Syver,Mr. E.Groombridge, Mr. Joseph Moon, Mr. W Piper, Mr. Adams. Mr. James Guest, Mr. J. Whapman, Mr. Thomas, Mr. Amos Cornford, Mr. H. Neve, Mr. B. Mitchell, Mr. H. Seammell, Mr. George Unstead, Mr. Ovenden, Mr. W. Field, Sir Somerset French, MajorPrice, Mr. N. D. Livesey, Mr. E. Poulter, Dr. Shackel, Rev. Cecil ff Eliot. MrH Jarvis, Mr. Luke Eldrdge, Mr. Eastwood, Mr. W. Newnham. No wreaths were placed on the coffin. but the following were sent: - "With deep sympathy, from Lady Brock"; "In affectionate remembrance, frcm Mr. and Mrs. Wells and family"; "With deep regret, from Mr. F. W. Bert"; "With sympathy, from The Convent"; "The staff at the Station"; "Sybil and Vera Chapman"; "Mr. and Mrs Lodge. "Miss Lester"; "Mr. and Mrs. W. Wall's Pring."
