I have a friend in Australia who started cataloguing everyone named Eldridge who had emigrated to Australia. He then included direct relatives and, slowly but surely, it became a one-name global project. However, his initial survey remains his first love. As such, I told him about Dinah Grace Piper, daughter of Hannah Eldridge, who had emigrated in the 1880s and lived in Tasmania. He knew nothing of her, but was delighted, did some research and sent me the following information.
Dinah Grace Piper married Benjamin Owen Holder on 9th November 1887 in Fingal, Tasmania. Dinah was 29 and Benjamin was 30 years of age. They had five children. (I had suggested six, but he is adamant that only five had been registered). They were all born in Fingal:
1 George born on 19th August 1888
2 Mary Grace born 16th October 1890
3 Henry born 10th February 1893
4 Ada Mercy born 6th June 1895
5 Stanley born 28th November 1898
Dinah Holder died on 22nd April 1929 in Finigal. |
