The car is going well except that Ian had one headlight smashed because a WOG driver forced him off the road - typical anyway it's all fixed now. The bank coughed up, and we repay them £25 per month. That is above the debt, so we are saving a little extra. I didn't see any news in Kent Messenger of sports day? Was it in? (I did see that Hill Place has Nosser's "Old Friend" in charge now though!). I have heard nothing from the magazine re: my story. I had asked Alan to send me the short story I gave him a so far no response! Strange to say to members of the cast of "Teahouse of August Moon" compile the magazine. They never mention my manuscript though and I wonder if they know it's me. Anyway, if it doesn't get printed soon I'll ask about it. David still can't work walk alone, but manages a few steps holding hands & with both Ian and me either side can go many yards. He is a bit nervous of going alone I think. He is full of mischief and is ticklish. He loves Ian very much, always plays games with him more than me. He can feed and drink himself, has seven teeth, when he has done mischief or been defiant we grumble and smack then he bangs his head on the floor a few times as if in Lamentations, and then he laughs at you. I think our address is out here., We can't get saving stamps out here but I'll keep the books anyway. Who is Mills, is it the master and his wife we met or new ones – I thought his name was Jones? The Limavady bank tells us that the M & G still haven't paid interest could Alan Wood do something to find out what has gone wrong? It is a bit of a worry. We have been exploring some of Cyprus the 'Pan Handle is greener than most parts, with lovely beaches. Troodios is disappointing, large dust heaps of mountains with with pine trees. Probably very nice for skiing. Did I tell you we saw Othello played in the actual building Othello's Tower? Othello and Desdemona lived there in Famagusta and she was killed there.The actors forgot their lines now and again. Lady Foot was there but Sir Hugh was too busy packing to come. We celebrated our anniversary by going out last Saturday to an outdoor cafe, where tables are laid out on terraces around a pool with lots of waterfalls. The food was excellent, we had roast chicken and salad, bottle of wine, appertives, 15 shillings each very cheap out here. The lights failed while we were there and we had to have candles and the help of the moon. Next door is a very pretty Greek church a "monastery without monks" so we were told. Afterwards we drove across the Kyrenia mountains and Kyrenia. Had a stroll around the harbour and ended up in a Turkish milk bar, on cushions on the floor, around a low table. The name of the restaurant is 'The Oasis' or in Greek Menafonthizza. I thought I had a slipped disc last week, I had to sleep on the floor, but it was only a pulled muscle in my back. Now I have lumbago, some rub is doing it good. Ian Sat for his corporal tech's exam yesterday so we have a few weeks to wait to see if he has passed. If so he takes part two in a few weeks. We are busy rehearsing for 'teahouse' which goes out on the fifth, sixth, seventh of October. I've only a small part but am expected to turn up to all rehearsals but I don't. Ian's brother Jim and family are coming to Cyprus in January They are stationed in Akriton. I expect they will stay here for a bit. Also Ian's mum is coming out next year, and Jim's father-in-law! On Independence Day we were not allowed out. Afterwards when we did go out we had lots of abuse from people and various bad words hurled at us. Some WOGs are trying it on now and flaunting about over us. Last Sunday I had the padre's daughter (who is about 19/20) sitting in my class to see how we managed. Afterward she congratulated me on my teaching abilities! I was scared at first, I thought there had been complaints or something. Ian said that sheprobably wanted the gen on their Sunday school and they chose my class because I think I am the best teacher! Anyway it went off okay. I have 22 little girls and the other teachers about seven or eight children!!! Has the Roman pottery arrived yet? Enclosed are 2 snaps of David. One with me and one with an army lad we know. The beach is at Salamis of ancient days where pottery was found - in fact that was the day it was found - Whit Monday.
