      Now in Kenton, he was born in Sheffield, Yorkshire, where his parents belonged, he was apprenticed to John Bottom, culter there until he was 21, when he was 16 he bought out the rest of the term and enlisted as a private in the Royal Artillery Drivers which service he is still in
