• Notes

  Winifreds sister, Florence, was playing on a shed roof in the family garden in Hereford, when she fell, head first, into a water butt. Winifred ran into the house and, shouting "Fossie in the tub, Fossie in the tub", pulled her mother into the garden, so that Florence was pulled free from a fatal accident. Florence always refered to this incident as having saved her life.
