Dear Daddy
Very many thanks for the book you kindly sent to David. He is very fond of looking at it. He loves books. When we say “woof woof” he points to a dog. He is walking now. He learned in a few days.
Ian has been promoted to Cpl and has passed part one of his exam. He sits again oral theory in November. If he passes he will become a Cpl technician. As you can see he has changed his address. He will now work on helicopters (air rescue) on shiftwork. His hours will be for a.m. to 8 AM sometimes and 8 AM to dusk with two days off in between. He is quite pleased as he has been told that it is a big responsibility, and they think he can do it all right.
Teahouse went off okay although I got fed up with it in the end. It was a great success, according to the papers.
This afternoon we went to decorate the church at camp for harvest. Next Saturday we start our week at Kyrenia. It is still 82 to 85°F so we should have it warm.
We read in the Kent messenger about the newspaper you found. Fancy it being there all those years. Was it in the Apple Store for the little room whether props were kept?
Tomorrow we hope to take David to the harvest festival.
Did Alan receive the gift we sent him for his birthday? Would you please ask him if he has the story of the lamp post handy? I am on the editorial committee of the magazine and in charge of the children’s section and could use that story when I’m too busy to write a new one – I have asked and asked for it since last summer without success, perhaps you can ask Alan to find it for me. I have told him I shall return it when I typed it out.
We had a meeting at the CO’s house, when the magazine was discussed, and I think from what I gathered that a certain lady on the committee (who is my partner in teahouse) has vetoed its inclusion in the mag. Anyway I stand a good chance of getting it published now. They had the cheek to say “any material you get from a teacher you can publish without hesitation!” But some of their articles are tripe!
Hope Trotsky is well and I am wondering what will happen at MCSOSA in the future – any budding presidents or officers who can take over? I hope it won’t lapse. Can you get me a badge (gold wire) of MCSOSA please from Jim Birchall. I shall pay.
Lots of love
Flora, Ian and David
I’ll write to Birchall myself so don’t worry – also I shall write to Allen Wood re-M or G. |
