Tuesday, 13 November
Dear all
This will be the last letter from Gann for about 10 days whilst I’m in Hong Kong – I shall write from there. I actually leave here on Tuesday and arrive early Friday – I’m looking forward to it a great deal.
I received your postcard and note that you arrived safely.
Now that doctor has found your blood pressure and eyes okay you will slow down some of the pressure off and rest. Glad you enjoyed your birthday – fancy being 43 years old!
I find that when I return I shall not know my garden as you have been hacking around in it – I warn you that my shed better be just as I left it.
My flight is gradually getting smaller as the number of aircraft increase - today I lost two lads of my shift and we are all working longer and longer hours – I can’t see any change to the end of December. I note that I only have 72 days to go.
Tomorrow night, when I’m at work, we can see a total eclipse of the moon around 3.15 a.m. I have told my Maldis this but they don’t believe me so I shall have them outside and work “white man’s magic”. I told them about the trains recently and they were enthralled.
Excuse writing – I’m dropping with tiredness.
I hope children are keeping well – I still have not received full measurements of the family. I must have them if I’m to get clothing – send them soonest to Sgt’s mess, RAF Kia Tak, BFPO1.
Must crawl into bed.
All my love
