    Dear all
Well here I am at last escaped from Gan. we had a pretty dull flight from Gan on which I didn’t get any sleep so it took a couple of days to get over it.
The weather here is fine but very cold to what we are used to, the temperature difference between here and Gan is 89°F which takes a lot of getting used to – had to buy a sweater to keep warm.
Hong Kong is a wonderful place full of strange things and the people are quite pleasant.
Yesterday we took a ride in a real sampan around the harbour where 60,000 people live on boats of all shapes and sizes. The whole place is packed with people and it’s very noisy and ‘brassy’. Great gaudy signs are everywhere and Chinese type music blares out competing with the latest pop introduced on the radio by people with pseudo-American accents - quite amazing. I just can’t describe it accurately it’s just too overpowering and strange.
I have been shopping for people on Gan and have got clothes for David, shirt for Colin. Soon I shall get some vests/pants etc for Elizabeth and perhaps a pencil or something for you if I have any money over.
I’m absolutely tired out walking everywhere, I seem to have walked miles today around the shops which are great fun because you argue over the price of things.
I’m looking forward to my stay here looking around and saving atmosphere – it really is different here.
    My love to you all
    daddy
