    Dear all
A few lines during a break in this hectic leave. We seem to spend hours and hours just walking around looking at the shops which seem to sell everything under the sun.
I have bought some close the boys, knickers for Elizabeth and the promised pencil for you. I have been very naughty and am having a leather jacket made-to-measure for £20, always wanted one and as they are so cheap it would be pity not take advantage. I have also got a dozen big towels (85p) and a pair of single sheets, pair of double sheets and pyjamas for the boys.
The other day we took very to one of the offshore islands to a Buddhist monastery, ever so interesting it was with the Chinese monks wondering about – just like you see on those willow patterned dinner plates.
We hope to go up to the new territories in the next few days and see the border with China and look upon real commie ‘B’s’.
Hong Kong is a very noisy place with traffic racing all over the place day and night, the shops stay open till nine or 10 at night and they all have bright signs outside and they are lit up at night. You can see just how different it is to Gan. The people are friendly enough but the language is a bit of a problem is you can’t even guess what they are trying to say. When shopping it’s all this bargaining thing with them asking some outrageous prices and then you have to spend time getting the price down, I’ve got it down to fine art now. I even walk away only to be called back and the new price offered, Kerrison better watch it when I get back home because I cut the price of things by half without even trying.
Will close now and get to bed all my love
    daddy
