A BRENCHLEY BRIDE.
An interesting wedding was solemnised at Hanover Chapel, Tunbridge Wells, on Tuesday between Miss Rosa Monckton Thirkell, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. Monckton Thirkell, of "Temple,” Brenchley, and Mr. H. Thirkell, second son of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Thirkell, Mount-road, Hastings. Mr. F. Kirby, of Staplehurst, officiated.
The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a dress of ivory georgette, and her veil was caught in place with a cluster of orange blossom. She carried bouquet of white carnations and lilies of the valley. The bride’s mother’s dress was black chantilly lace and georgette, with diamante buckle and hat to match.
The chief bridesmaid was Miss Ellen Thirkell. The other maids were the Misses Pat and Edith Thirkell, also sisters of the bride. Their dresses were of pistache green georgette, with baku straw hats to match, each wearing gold bangles, the gifts of the bridegroom. They carried daffodil bouquets. Master Henry Reader, nephew the bridegroom, acted as pageboy. He wore daffodil georgette tunic, bronze satin beaute knickers and shoes to match. His gift from the bridegroom was a travelling clock.
Mr. Gordon Welfear was best man. After the reception the bride and bridegroom left for Eastbourne, where the honeymoon is being spent. The bride travelled in a blue crepe-de-chine dress and beige wool georgette coat trimmed with fox fur.
The bride and bridegroom were the recipients of many handsome presents. v |
