MAYFIELD
Sudden Death of Infant. —An inquest was held by F. H. Gell, Esq., coroner, at the Star Inn, on Thursday, on the body Edward Piper, an infant six weeks old, son of Mr. Frederick Piper, plumber, of Mayfield.
It appeared that on Tuesday evening, Sarah Piper, mother of deceased, took the child to bed with her in its usual health at nine o'clock, and during the night gave it the breast. She awoke about half-past five o'clock the next morning, and found the child in the same position as she laid it, dead and cold.
Michael Wallis, surgeon,of Mayfield, stated it as his opinion that deceased died convulsions. Verdict, "Found Dead." |
