    Text MR. HENRY PIPER.
Popular Streatham Grammar School Teacher Leaving
At the end of the month Mr, Henry Piper, who resides at Mitcham-lane, Streatham, will be severing his connection with the Streatham Grammar School in order to take over the Maidstone Commercial School, Kent. He was formerly a master there for five years, immediately prior to coming to Streatham in 1920, and had a large evening connection at the school, which is run on academic and commercial lines, Mr. Piper has given a great deal of his time for the good of the Grammar School during the ten years that he has been there, both on the teaching and sporting side, Hundreds: of boys have passed through his hands, and he has seen a number of changes. The reorganisation of the house system has been entirely due to him, and he also took charge of "The Grammarian," the school magazine, which is published every term. A great quantity of the material in this organ was from his own pen, Mr. Piper also was instrumental in organising various school concerts, and he put in a great deal of work as secretary of the games committee which was formed in connection with the new ground at Long Thornton, He is fully qualified to take over his new duties, for in addition to two years as a pupil teacher under the Kent Education Committee, he also spent three years at King's College. His chief subject is mathematics. The Maidstone Commercial School is an old-established school in the main London-road. Mrs. Piper died in 1927.
