WEDDINGS.
MR. H. PIPER AND MISS M. WEEKS.
A wedding uniting two well known Staple-
hurst families was solemnised at the parish
church, Staplehurst, on Thursday, January
1st. The bridegroom was Harry Piper, son of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Piper, of Matfield
House, while the bride was Minnie, younger
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Weeks, of
The Gables. There was a large gathering
of friends present at the service, which was
choral. Wagners's Bridal March greeted the
bride on her arrival whilst she made her way
up the aisle on the arm of her father.
TO FINISH
was rendered by the church choir. Mr. Piper was best
man, and there were two ushers.
The bride wore an ivory charmeuse dress, with a court train trimmed
with silver lace, and her bridal veil was held in place by sprays of
orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of lilies, the gift of the
bridegroom.
The bridesmaids were Miss E. Weeks (sister of the bride), Miss M.
Weeks, Miss S. Piper, and Miss J. Weeks. They wore dresses of pale
blue taffeta and carried bouquets of yellow chrysanthemums, the
gifts of the bridegroom.
After the ceremony the bridal party was entertained at the home of
the bride’s parents. Later the bride and bridegroom left for their
honeymoon, the bride travelling in a navy costume with hat to match.
A reception was held at the South Eastern Hotel, where the happy
