Hill House – Newnham-on-Severn
April 27, 1896
Gentlemen
I had the pleasure of knowing John Morris around six years ago, since which time he has been abroad in the West Indies and elsewhere. At the time I knew him I always found him very civil, polite, straightforward and judging from what I knew of him then I have great pleasure in saying that I believe him to be thoroughly well-qualified morally and intellectually for the post in which he is in quest, and that he would be a credit to the force. Any other questions I shall be happy to answer to the best of my ability
